Here too, nearly 7 km with about 65 meters of elevation gain can be hiked in about three hours along the monuments located to the north. Some remarkable houses, along with other memorial stones, are the interesting destinations of this path.

While the memorial hiking trail with Route 1 is dedicated to the southern part of the sundial village Taubenheim, the curious can also explore the northern part of this locality in the municipality of Sohland a.d. Spree with regard to monuments.

The main focus of this hiking suggestion is on interesting buildings, be they half-timbered houses, the church, or the castle. Natural monuments, quiet cemeteries, and other granite stones complete the variety of noteworthy monuments in the village.

Here stones tell stories: how a pastor had to bury many of his children, how mothers mourned their sons and wives their husbands at the end of the 19th century because there was also war, how young men from both world wars never returned home, or how rock was extracted from the mountains and basalt preserved in a volcano from ancient times.

Directions

This path also starts at the car park in the village center opposite the village store "Zur alten Post".

One should not miss the exciting shop of Max Panitz here – you will be surprised that such a thing still exists…

The Zumpeweg, branching off to the right, is narrow but full of history. Several viewpoints can be visited over a very short distance. Once the Zumpeweg has been explored, you reach Oberdorfstraße to the right. One of the monuments is visited and the same way is walked back until you pass the junction to Zumpeweg again. Then turn right into Oberdorfgasse and, after crossing the Spree, follow Oppacher Weg to the left. Turn right into Sohlander Straße and around the height of the castle, which is also part of the route, turn right again. From here, the path leads over the New Cemetery. Once back on Sohlander Straße, turn right and enter the castle park, where the well-kept landscape can be enjoyed and an obelisk can also be visited.

The path then leads back past the castle and then turns right to guide the hiker through the Old Cemetery. More monuments and buildings open up to the viewer when walking right, then left, and right again. The path then makes a wide arc, leads half-right over the street at the sports field, and left onto the path toward Wachtberg. There is a detour to this landscape natural monument, rewarded with a wide view of the village. The path continues to Am Schafberg street, then left downhill back to the village. On Sohlander Straße, walk briefly to the right, glance at the Lower Castle and the obelisk located in the Spree floodplain. A short way back to the turnoff at Niederbrücke street, followed to the right, and turning left into Spreeweg continues the path. Soon you reach Sohlander Straße again, follow it a few meters to the right, then immediately turn right into An der Kleinbahn street. This is walked completely, including the left turn, until the starting point is reached again.

This path also considers the theme of sundials, as there are now 37 of these alternative timekeepers alone in Taubenheim.
