Up high it goes to our 832m high local mountain, situated in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Montanregion Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří.
On the eastern side of the Pöhlberg, in the middle of a rural-developed area, there is a mining area documented since the 15th century. After the introduction of the Saiger process, silver could be extracted from the copper ore mined here in the Saigerhütte Grünthal. Let yourself be enchanted by the nature, the landscape, and the views that the Pöhlberg area offers you.

Directions
From Kätplatz, cross the B95 and follow the Pöhlberg access road (Ernst-Roch-Straße). Past the Flößgraben you will reach the striking basalt columns below the summit. Keep right and continue on the circular route around the Pöhlberg. You will pass the Pöhlbergalm nature reserve and overlook the Ore Mountains ridge from Bärenstein via Fichtelberg and Keilberg to the Auersberg in the far west. Later, the path leads past the oldest mining area of Annaberg. The St. Briccius Stolln with its fan house is worth a detour. Following the circular route again, you pass the Töpferstolln and the Butterfässer and return to Ernst-Roch-Straße, then walk downhill back to the starting point at Kätplatz.
