From 2017 to 2020, the historic mining trail (small route) was modernized and expanded with a large route featuring mining historical landmarks and beautiful views. The large route is expected to be fully signposted from October 2020.

The route starts at the entrance of the "Geyerin" pit above the Seiffen mountain church. An orientation board installed here explains the course of the mining trail routes through the former mining area of Seiffen with its 34 stations. At each station, there are signs in the form of a German doorstop with detailed descriptions of the respective locations.

The large loop leads past signposted mining heaps protected as monuments and nature reserves, the mine entrances of former adits, replicas of stamp mills, as well as numerous resting places with wonderful views over the valley of the Seifenbach. The route length is about 14 km and can be walked in 4-5 hours. Since the route passes through the town center several times, it can also be walked in individual sections.
