Route description:
Starting point: Hiking parking lot at Rothenthaler Straße / Saigerhütte Grünthal or Grünthal train station
Route (circular hiking trail): From the Saigerhütte parking lot area or Grünthal train station, we enter the Saigerhütte area. We encounter the Kammweg (blue) and cross the Flöha river into the Hüttengrund. There we leave the Kammweg to the left (yellow dot marking) over the Preißlerberg to the Poppschen Gut. Via the Brettmühlenweg and Jahnstraße we reach the sports field. After the sports field, we turn off Jahnstraße towards the forest edge. On the narrow path along the forest edge, a beautiful view can be enjoyed. The path passes the wildlife enclosure to the Alte Poststraße. We follow this uphill, then after about 100 m turn towards Kerbe. The path runs along the forest edge towards the Buttermilchtal. At the garden complex, the path turns right into the forest. In Buttermilchtal, we follow the path downhill to Wiesenstraße. Then we cross the Flöha at the footbridge. Afterwards, it continues towards the town center through the gardens to the market. We follow Bahnhofstraße and shortly before the train station turn right. We cross the railway track and follow the Rübenauer Weg uphill. Passing the Frankwarte ski slope, a nice viewpoint is reached at the forest edge. The Rübenauer Weg passes the Anton Günther Stein, then we reach the Königsweg, which we follow left towards the Schaaldenkmal. Downhill, the Königsweg leads to Heidenweg, where we turn right. Through the industrial area on the Fernweg EB (red), we reach the starting point at Saigerhütte Grünthal (UNESCO World Heritage site component).
