Rock path 2 - On the trail of water - Rafting and hydropower

After the start sign, follow the Falkensteiner Straße for about 200 m. The marking then shows to the right towards Beerheide. At the forest edge, FW 2 merges with the nature trail in the NSG "Am alten Floßgraben" (Moor nature trail) until the old nature conservation station. After crossing the main road, the hiker reaches Friedrichsgrüner Straße, where after another crossing of the main road, they follow the signs to Weiberteichweg. From the large “Riß” it goes right over the “Rißweg” to Röthelstein, a highlight of the route, where you can take the small climb to enjoy the view and read/listen to the rock legend on the info board. The path continues downhill at the foot of the rock until passing the former double bridge (info board) and the picturesque Friz-Bode reservoir. Then it goes steeply uphill over Stallmeisterberg to Ellefeld, district Juchhöh (here shortcut option via Hohen Weg back to Hammerbrücke). The path continues, now downhill to the Falkenstein reservoir, another highlight of the route. Here the hiker can pause at the boat rental and snack bar or linger on benches at the water playground. After almost circling the reservoir, the climb to Lohbergfelsen begins, from where you then cross the “Unreinforced Bridge” (over the Falkenstein-Muldenberg railway line) to the Schwarzen Stein and the rock needle "Fossilized Monk", the third highlight of the route. Then you follow the path downhill and cross the railway line again. Via the Bismarckbastei, you descend to the valley of the Weiße Göltzsch, which you follow upstream to the junction "former Druckersmühle" (info board). After the "Nordic Camp" you turn towards Hammerbrücke to the fallow deer enclosure and pass by the Elsenfelsen to the entry to the Rißfälle. Along the water steps, follow the path down again into the Göltzsch valley, which you then follow upstream to the Hohen Weg. From here, the route leads right back to the town of Hammerbrücke and via Rißbrücker Weg and Falkensteiner Straße back to the starting point.

Wear comfortable (hiking) shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. We recommend carrying food in a backpack, as there are no direct refreshment options along the route.
