The sports route takes young people, families and seniors on a time travel through 200 years of Leipzig's sports history with 22 selected stations. Some stations have supra-regional significance for sports. They show the most important sports venues, significant events, outstanding sports and notable personalities.
By 2023, six stations of the Leipzig sports route were inaugurated with information steles and panels (1, 5, 7, 8, 17, 18). The remaining stations will be opened in the coming years. Until then, the original, historic sites can already be visited on site. Some still have historic buildings or sports facilities preserved.
In summer months, the Sports Museum offers guided bike tours to the sports route.
