The cycle tour starts on Rudolf-Virchow-Straße and leads from there into the Bürgerwald forest. The view over the Querenbach dam rewards you for the steep climb on the way here and invites you to take a short breather.
The route continues uphill on well-surfaced forest paths to Hauwaldstraße. The cycle route follows this asphalted forest path and leads along the nature trail, which offers lots of interesting information about the landscape and the tree species found here.
Beyond Thalheimer Straße, you can cycle along the Kohlweg through the shady forest landscape of the Zellerholz before enjoying the view over Stollberg town center from the Goldene Höhe. From here, the cycle tour follows the supra-regional Route 6 into the valley to the Walkteich pond with its beautiful tree-lined playground. A kiosk and the "Walkbeach" café offer coffee and snacks as well as rowing boat hire, cocktail evenings and events on the beautiful wooden deck above the reflecting surface of the pond, depending on the season. Along the Gablenzbach stream, the route finally leads back through the town center and via Feldstraße, past the former district hospital, back to the starting point.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author
If you cross the bridge over the B 180, you will find yourself on the edge of the Stollberger Galgenholz. A display board provides information about the historical background to this morbid name.
If you walk a little way into the forest from there, you will reach the Anton Günther memorial stone. There is a small fountain at the edge of the path and a nice place to rest, which also offers larger groups a shady place to sit.
