Stoneman Miriquidi Road stage 06 Holzhau - Bärenfels

As the name suggests, forestry dominated in Holzhau. The wood cut in the surrounding area was either processed into charcoal for the smelting operation or floated as firewood towards Freiberg via the Freiberg Mulde. Today, Holzhau is mainly known to ski enthusiasts. The Holzhau ski area on the northern slope of the Freiberg Mulde is one of the largest in the Eastern Ore Mountains. The Stoneman Miriquidi Road also follows this Freiberg Mulde, but upstream towards the southeast. Immediately at the state border, the route leads into the deep Miriquidi Forest, along the Ore Mountains ridge, and passes the Hemmschuh, another winter sports area. Past the Herklotzmühe sawmill museum, it continues towards the next checkpoint: the spa town of Bärenfels.
