Stoneman Miriquidi Road stage 07 Bärenfels Zinnwald

Bärenfels is idyllically situated at an altitude of 635 meters, surrounded by forests and flowering meadows. Past the Spitzberg, the route passes the Galgenteiche recreational reservoirs and leads directly through the "Stadt uff 'n alten Berg". For centuries, Altenberg was the most important tin deposit in Central Europe. The Altenberger Pinge bears witness to this. The enormous funnel was created in 1620 by a collapse of the Deckengebirge in the course of ore mining. Today, the pinge covers an area of around 12 hectares. Altenberg is the most important winter sports center in the Eastern Ore Mountains. The Olympic base also enjoys this reputation because of the local bobsleigh track, where the sporting elite compete on two and four runners every year. Speeds of up to 140 kilometers per hour are reached on the 1,400-meter-long track. The next checkpoint is probably not quite as fast: Zinnwald.
