Stoneman Miriquidi Road stage 09 Litvinov -Nova Ves v Horach

Litvínov's character as an industrial city is unmistakable. From ore mining to the textile, toy and timber industries to today's chemical industry, the town's economy has undergone constant change. Away from this, the baroque town center with the Zámek Valdštejnů (Waldstein Castle) and the parish church of St. Michael is characteristic of Litvínov. Further west, a tough climb awaits. The pass near Nová Ves v Horách (mountain village), at an altitude of 736 meters, used to be an important mule track from Saxony to Bohemia. Donkeys, mules and horses transported goods over the ridge of the Ore Mountains. Small villages were built along the route to provide support services on the steep mountain roads and to protect against raids.
