Stoneman Miriquidi Road stage 11 Zoopark Chomutov - Klasterec n. Ohri

Chomutov is an important industrial and energy center in the Czech Republic. Numerous chimneys and factory buildings bear witness to this, as does Lake Alaun, which was once an active open-cast mining area and is now a popular bathing lake. The old town is dotted with old town houses and magnificent churches. Chomutov is also home to the largest zoo in the Czech Republic. The route continues westwards along impressive mining landscapes to Kadaň. The town lies majestically on a rocky promontory above the River Cheb. A detour to the Eger Bridge is particularly worthwhile. It offers an impressive panorama: Kadaň in the foreground and Měděnec (Copper Mountain) and the Klínovec peak in the background. From Kadaň, the StonemanMiriquidi Road passes the Cheb Dam and leads to the next checkpoint: Klášterecnad Ohří (Klösterle an der Eger).
