This bike ride is something for nature lovers! It initially shows the beautiful paths of the Dresden Heath, the large forest area north of the city. Then it continues southeast over country roads, always slightly uphill, up to the highest point of Dresden at 383 meters - the Triebenberg. After continuing through the beautiful landscape of the Schönfelder Highlands, we turn around in Pirna OT Bonnewitz and cycle back directly below the Pillnitz vineyards towards Dresden.

Directions
We start at the Rosengarten right on the Elbe Cycle Path in Dresden Neustadt. It goes through the colorful district, the "Äußere Neustadt", in a few minutes directly into the Dresden Heath. The route leads over wonderful forest paths along the Prießnitz. The first part of the route always goes slightly uphill to leave the Elbe valley. At the eastern edge of the city, near Ullersdorf, the forest paths end. Now it goes over country roads into the Schönfelder Highlands and up to the Triebenberg. At 383 meters, it is the highest elevation of the city. From here, you can enjoy great views as far as Saxon Switzerland. After more beautiful paths, the route turns and goes steeply downhill past Bonnewitz back into the Elbe valley to the village of Graupa. Here a visit to the Richard Wagner sites is worthwhile. Richard Wagner lived in the Schäfersches Gut in Graupa during his time as court music director in Dresden (1842–1849) and conceived his Lohengrin here.
We ride directly into the vineyards of Dresden, to Pillnitz. Here one destination is especially worthwhile: the Zimmerling winery. Tasteful wines, great cakes, and a cozy spot invite you to take a break. After that, we ride to the picturesque vineyard church, and those who still have energy can leave the bike briefly and hike up over the vineyards via Wünschendorfer Straße to Leitenweg to enjoy the fantastic view of Dresden. After this short detour on foot, we continue the route on the Elbe Cycle Path, past the Blue Wonder Bridge, and back to the "Äußere Neustadt."
