In addition to the cactus garden at the town hall and the zoo, the hike also includes an ascent to the Georgfelsen, also known as the “Bastei” (“bastion”). Enjoy the view over the town and take a side trip to admire Ore Mountains woodcarvings at the Schnitz-Museum (Woodcarving Museum) in the district of Jahnsbach. The mining discovery trail and the educational trail along Thum’s narrow-gauge railway are also worth checking out.

- The tour starts and ends on the Neumarkt, right in front of the tourist information office. Hike along the outskirts of the town, following the map to the holiday park at the Greifensteinwald forest in the direction of the Greifensteine. From there, walk along the edge of the forest via the Stadtpark to the Georgfelsen, and visit the Georgstein outcrop. Enjoy the lovely view of the town and discover the beauty of Thum’s location – idyllically situated and surrounded by forests – on this gentle uphill hike with some steps.
