Our tour begins at the parking lot at the entrance to Waitzdorf. We first follow a path that leads past the houses on the right and eventually takes a sharp left turn. We continue straight ahead along the edge of the forest, following the signs to the lookout point. There, the hiking trail—which is partially overgrown with grass—continues to the left and becomes easier to walk on. Soon you’ll see the lookout point on the right, which can be reached via a small side trail. Now we follow the wide hiking trail, which leads us briefly to the right toward the second lookout point, accessible via a small path. A guide is required here, just as it was at the first lookout point. After returning from this lookout point to the hiking trail, we follow it and eventually reach the Mühlweg. After a few meters, this hiking trail meets the Waldtorweg. At this intersection, we turn left and hike along the Waldtorweg until we reach the road to Waitzdorf. Here, too, we keep to the left and finally complete our short loop at the Waitzdorf parking lot.

From Dresden, take the A17 to the Pirna exit. Drive toward the city center and you’ll come directly onto the B172, which leads through Königstein to Bad Schandau. In Bad Schandau, after crossing the Elbe Bridge, turn right immediately and head toward Hohnstein. On the road to Hohnstein through the forest, you’ll see a signposted turnoff to the right for Goßdorf-Waitzdorf.
