A short hike around Altenberg, past the forest tavern "Altes Raupennest"—a traditional restaurant owned by Max Nacke.

The Terrainkurweg 10 “Raupennestring” is an easy loop hike that offers pure relaxation over a distance of just under 4 kilometers. The varied route leads around Altenberg, past the water treading pool, along quiet forest and meadow paths, and to the historic forest tavern “Altes Raupennest.” Along the way, magnificent views invite you to linger.

This trail is stroller-friendly. Above Bergstraße, the trail crosses a meadow, which may present some challenges for wheelchair users.

Directions

From the Raupennest Health Center running group, the path leads toward the sports field and continues toward the city center to Rehefelder Straße. After crossing this street, you’ll reach the water treading pool. Continue along the cross path to the Bergstraße residential area. Turn right and follow Wiesenweg to Sonnenhofweg. Turn right again toward the “Waldschänke Altes Raupennest” / TK 10. Once you reach the top of the hill (where you’ll also see the ski lift’s upper station), turn left and follow the path downhill. Cross the Alten Zaunhäuser Weg and continue straight ahead to Flemmingweg. Here, keep to the right, and after a few steps you’ll reach a rest area with an information board. Follow the path along the ditch (Quergraben). After about 200 m, you’ll reach Rehefelder Straße and will have returned to the starting point.

Additional information

The classic terrain therapy is a special form of exercise therapy offered at health resorts. It is characterized by exercise intensity tailored to the individual’s fitness level, full-body training, time spent outdoors, and the experience of the natural landscape. It is performed through normal or brisk walking. Terrain therapy helps normalize the body’s autonomic functions: the cardiovascular system works more efficiently, respiratory function is stimulated, muscles and joints are strengthened, and overall metabolism is positively influenced.
