Today you will go through the Zittau Mountains. The bizarre sandstone formations have amazed many hikers with awe. Additionally, surefootedness is required as some climbing paths demand your full concentration.
The next and also the last mountain peak of the long-distance trail – the Hochwald with cabin and observation tower – offers you an incredible view of the trail behind in the centuries-old cultural landscape of the Upper Lusatian Mountain Trail, but also over towards the Jizera Mountains, Jeschken, and with some luck the Giant Mountains. Enjoy your stay on the Hochwald tower before descending into the venerable spa town of Oybin.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author
You should definitely dare the ascent to Mount Oybin with its castle and monastery ruins, as even Caspar David Friedrich was impressed by this magnificent backdrop up here. With some luck, you can experience a concert in the monastery walls. As a insider tip, we recommend visiting the small church located directly on the ascent to Oybin.
