- Destination: Zabeltitz
The combination of magnificent castles and a unique flora and fauna makes a visit to Zabeltitz particularly attractive. The princely palace forms the entrance to an enchanting Baroque garden. Established in the 18th century on behalf of Count von Wackerbarth, it is one of the largest and best-preserved garden complexes in Saxony modeled after French designs. The Baroque setting, together with St. George's Church and the two wedding rooms in the palace and old castle, is today a popular place for weddings. The palace is also gladly used for concerts, events, and private celebrations. The farmers' museum tells the history of rural culture, and the extensive floodplain landscape around Zabeltitz offers many opportunities for fascinating nature observations. With a bit of luck, one may spot a kingfisher, beaver, otter, numerous dragonflies, and other rare animals and plants.
