Vögte Cultural Trail - Stage 11: From Voigtsberg to the Asch region

The first stop is St. Catherine's Church in Eichigt with its late Gothic wall paintings. Then descend into the Elster valley to Adorf, where you will find the Freiberger Gate, the oldest city gate in the Vogtland. Take the opportunity to visit the museum here.
The stage then leads to Schönberg in the southernmost corner of the Saxon Vogtland. From the castle or the nearby Kapellenberg Tower, you have a beautiful view over the wide plain of the Egerland.
Now proceed from Bad Elster into the Asch region. Besides the Vögte of Weida, the Neuberg and Zedtwitz families were influential here. Evidence of this medieval rule can be found today in Krugsreuth and especially in Neuberg, where a walk through the grounds of the former castle gives a good understanding of its former importance. Directions
The stage begins in Oelsnitz. You head towards Hof/Triebel. After Süßebach, turn left to Eichigt. St. Catherine's Church is located on the left side at Dorfstraße 68. Continue via Bergen and Freiberg to Adorf. The museum is located at the historic Freiberger Gate. Park on the market square to visit the town.
Continue on the B 92 towards Bad Brambach/Cheb. After the Bad Brambach bypass, take the turnoff to Schönberg. Here you can visit the St. Ursula Chapel and Schönberg Castle. There are also some restaurants in the town. From the nearby Kapellenberg lookout tower, you have a unique view of the Vogtland, the Asch region, and the Egerland.
The next section of the stage first leads back to the B 92 to Bad Elster.
Then, a street connection in the town itself leads into the Asch region with the villages Neuberg/Podhradi, Grün/Doubrava, and Krugsreuth.
The destination of the stage is Asch. Park at Goetheplatz or at the museum/information center.
