On the B283 before the cross-country ski trail bridge, we follow the signpost to the right towards Aschberg on the Mühlleithener Weg and the ridge path, past the ridge hut, up to the lookout tower on the Aschberg. Near the tower, at the Aschbergalm, snacks are available. Winter opening hours Wed-Sun 10 am–5 pm. On the border path, we pass the Aschberg inn to the Grenzstraße. Across the Grenzstraße and along the ridge path by the border, past a distinctive viewpoint and the Sonnenloipe trail, we reach the Höhenweg and follow it over the Waldgutberg and further downhill to the Pudelmützweg. We follow this to the Untersachsenberger Straße, which leads us into the town center. Here, on the federal road, we keep to the left and after about 300 m, after a Rossmann store, turn right to the Tourist Information, where our winter hike ends.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author
- Attention, the border path is partly only trampled and not passable when there is a lot of fresh snow and drifting. As an alternative or also as a more comfortable route, the Aschbergstraße is recommended. For this, we go back about 400 m from the Aschbergalm to the ridge path and then follow the Aschbergstraße downhill to the Grenzstraße on the left.
