The BLOCKLINE is a fully signposted bike route. It runs counterclockwise. You can start anywhere, preferably at one of the BLOCKLINE portals or one of the BLOCKLINE accommodations (BLOCKLINE Inns). The route is especially enjoyable with the BLOCKLINE starter package.
Entry is possible at any point on the route. The official start/finish portal is located in Holzhau. From there, the route follows the old railway embankment and the Czech border through the Hemmschuh nature reserve to Rehefeld. Wooden portals, milestones and motif milestones (carved figures) show you the way into a land of impressive panoramas, unique rock formations, reservoirs, lush mountain meadows and streams. The route continues over the Kahleberg viewpoint along the Georgenfelder Hochmoor to Altenberg. Then the route winds along the towns of Schellerhau, over the Stephanshöhe viewpoint to Hermsdorf, Frauenstein, Mulda and Blockhausen. Experience sculptures of chainsaw art and an adventure playground before the BLOCKLINE continues through the towns of Dorfchemnitz and Sayda. Past the museums in Neuhausen, our route leads you into the "toy village" Seiffen and over the Schwartenberg viewpoint along the border back to Holzhau.

The BLOCKLINE is located in the east of the Erzgebirge – between Seiffen, world-famous for its woodcraft, and the winter sports center Altenberg. Dresden is 45 minutes away by car. Prague is 90 minutes away, Leipzig 1:45 h. Bayreuth and Erfurt are each 2:30 h, Berlin and Magdeburg three hours away.

From the Silver City® Freiberg on the Mulderadweg, Freiberg- Holzhau section to the BLOCKLINE. The entry to the BLOCKLINE can be from Mulda; here you directly join Stage 8 of the BLOCKLINE and can discover some sections of the bike adventure.
Public transportationAll train stations between Mulda (Saxony) and Holzhau ski lift in the west are suitable for entering the BLOCKLINE. Geising and Altenberg are the stations in the east of the route.
The Freiberg Railway runs between Freiberg and Holzhau. Other stations are located in Mulda and Nassau. Even on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, the train runs during the day every hour, starting at 7:40 a.m. in Freiberg, and the last train returns to Freiberg at 9:15 p.m. From 3:40 p.m. the trains run every 2 hours. Please refer to the timetables for exact departure times. Bicycle transport on the Freiberg Railway trains is free of charge; advance registration is requested due to limited capacity.
In Freiberg, you have connections to the trains of the Mitteldeutsche Regiobahn towards Chemnitz and Dresden, as well as to the city bus in front of the station.

From the Silver City® Freiberg, you can reach the BLOCKLINE well by bike. First, you ride from Freiberg along the Mulderadweg. In Mulda, you directly join the BLOCKLINE route (Stage 8). The next highlight is the forest adventure village BLOCKHAUSEN. Stage 9 leads from BLOCKHAUSEN to Kreuztanne near Sayda. From there, there is a transit connection to Holzhau. Here, there is the option to stay overnight or return to Freiberg (Freiberg Railway or Mulderadweg).

In Mulda, from September 17, 2025, until approximately October 31, 2025, the escort road will be closed due to construction work. The detour will be signposted on site accordingly; please observe this detour from this period onwards.
