The approximately 15 km long circular route takes you past worthwhile points in and around Geyer. Cycle long sections through our beautiful municipal forest and visit the sights in the town center: the Tower Museum with 7 floors is one of the highest and most beautiful in Germany. In the immediate vicinity is the Lotterhof, a unique testimony of Renaissance architecture in the Ore Mountains, as well as the Binge, a natural monument of former mining activity and the landmark of the town of Geyer. At the old market, you will find the historic postal distance column, from June a bakery with soft ice cream, the tourist information with a library, pizza, and a newly designed square with water games and benches to rest. In the romantically wild Greifenbach Valley, the path takes you past the ski jump complex - where Eric Frenzel, Olympic champion and world champion in Nordic combined, once learned the basics of ski sports - as well as past old witnesses of mining. At the Greifenbach reservoir, you can end your day at the sandy beach swimming, pedal boating, playing mini golf, or on the adventure playground.

Directions
You can start your route, for example, at the Greifenbach reservoir and ride the loop counterclockwise. Your legs are still fresh, so you can tackle the slight but steady climb through the forest to the highest point of the tour (at about 5 km) right at the beginning. At the gnarled beech tree, turn left and enjoy the slight downhill to the idyllic Heideteich (construction measures spring/summer 2019). Further on, you come onto side roads to the town center. Over the climb at Lotterhof and the Binge path (here a detour to the Binge is possible, distance approx. 500 m) as well as the Ehrenfriedersdorfer Str. past the Netto supermarket, it goes down into the romantically wild Greifenbach Valley. Along the Greifenbach, it now goes gently uphill to the Greifenbach reservoir. The Sandhusenringel can be ridden in both directions. There are many entry and shortcut options; for an extension, please use the local and regional signposts.
By the way: What are "Sandhusen"? With the decline of mining in the Ore Mountains, other means of livelihood had to be found. Besides bobbin lace making and passementerie industry, in Geyer this was the sale of scrubbing sand, which was a by-product of the local gravel pits. The children who went out to sell this sand (mostly carried in their trouser pockets) were then called Sandhusn. This nickname is still used for every resident of Geyer today.

Free parking spaces are available in the city area of Geyer and at the TV tower. Paid parking spaces are located at the Greifenbach reservoir and at the hiking parking lot on Zwönitzer Street.
