Through the Elbland in two days

We start in Dresden directly opposite the old town at the "Königsufer." From here, the route leads northwest on the right bank of the Elbe towards Riesa. 

After leaving Dresden behind, the bike path passes Radebeul. We are thrilled by the vineyards and a first stop in the village center "Altkötzschenbroda" is worthwhile. Continuing, we pass through Meissen. We head toward the magnificent castle but initially leave it to the left since we will return there later. The bike path leads us past mills and floodplains; we see the famous vineyards of the Elbland, and several wineries invite us to their seasonal wine taverns. Very beautiful and therefore highly worth seeing: the castle church Diesbar-Seusslitz with the George-Bähr-Church. 

After about 50 km, we reach Riesa. The large district town announces itself with its industrial buildings, but passing through the city center is worthwhile. Here, we cross the Elbe bridge and continue on the other side. Heading southwest, we roll the remaining 25 daily kilometers to Meissen. In Meissen, an overnight stay is recommended. Many hotels and guesthouses in the city center offer bike-friendly accommodations. In the evening, you should visit the old town and not shy away from the way to the castle.
The second day continues through small villages along the Elbe towards Pirna. We now see many natural beauties from new perspectives on the other side of the Elbe. Upon arriving in Dresden, we pass through the city directly below the baroque old town. A stop for lunch and a detour into the state capital are also worthwhile here. The Elbe Cycle Route leads the tour opposite the famous Elbe castles and through the impressive steel bridge "Blue Wonder." We reach the easternmost point of the route in Pirna. The town on the Elbe, with its world-famous market square, is definitely worth a visit.

Afterward, we use the bridge to switch sides of the Elbe again and ride back in the original direction of the first day. Above all, passing through Pillnitz is thrilling. A look into the castle grounds should not be missed. We then cross the Elbe two more times and enjoy the view over the Elbland landscape along the Elbe slopes. Our two-day tour ends at the Königsufer, right in the center of Dresden's old town.
