Through the Elbland in two days

We start in Dresden directly opposite the Dresden Old Town at the "Königsufer". From here the route leads northwest on the right bank of the Elbe towards Riesa.

After leaving Dresden behind, the cycle path passes by Radebeul. We are delighted by the vineyards and a first stop in the village center "Altkötzschenbroda" is worthwhile. Continuing the journey, we pass through Meißen. We ride towards the magnificent castle but leave it on the left for now, as we will return here later. The cycle path leads us past mills and floodplains; we see the famous vineyards of the Elbland and some wineries entice us to visit their seasonal wine taverns. Very beautiful and thus very worth seeing: The castle church Diesbar-Seußlitz with the George Bähr Church.

After about 50 km we reach Riesa. The large district town announces itself with its industrial buildings, but passing through the city center is worthwhile. Here we cross the Elbe bridge and continue on the other side. Heading southwest we cover the remaining 25 kilometers of the day to Meißen. Stay options are now available in Meißen. Many hotels and guesthouses in the city center offer bike-friendly ways to spend the night. In the evening, it is worth visiting the old town and not hesitating to take the path to the castle.
The second day leads further through small villages along the Elbe towards Pirna. Many natural beauties are now seen from new perspectives from the other side of the Elbe. Arriving back in Dresden, we pass through the city directly below the baroque old town. Here a stop for lunch and a detour into the state capital are also worthwhile. Following the Elbe Cycle Route, the tour then passes opposite the famous Elbe palaces and through the impressive steel bridge "Blue Wonder." We reach the easternmost point of the route in Pirna. The city on the Elbe, with its world-famous market square, is definitely worth a visit.

Afterwards, we use the bridge to switch sides of the Elbe again and ride in the original direction of the first day. The passage through Pillnitz is especially impressive. A look into the castle grounds should definitely not be missed. We cross the Elbe twice more and enjoy the view over the Elbland landscape on the Elbe slopes. Our two-day route ends at the Königsufer, in the middle of Dresden city center.
