The hike runs mostly in the valley and through the forest, providing a particularly pleasant coolness in summer.
The main route runs from Jocketa via Plauen to the Zwoschwitz district.
A particularly beautiful section leads through the romantically wild Nymph Valley, whose entrance is formed by the Devil's Pulpit, a striking greenstone rock. Accompanied by the cheerful babbling of the Kalte Bach, one arrives after a few kilometres already on Plauen soil in the village of Jößnitz. Idyllically located at the edge of the forest, the more than 140-year-old Pfaffenmühle is a popular rest stop for hikers.
Now you can decide on a trip to Plauen, where there is much to discover in the historic old town: St. John's Church, the Old Town Hall, the Malzhaus, the Thread Factory, the Vogtland Museum, and the Galerie e.o.plauen - Erich Ohser Art Museum, to name just a few.
Or you can follow dragon tracks into the nearby Vogtland Mill Quarter.
The Dragon's Cave Syrau, Saxony's only show cave, has a lot to offer: first descending many steps, feeling the rock, passing through narrow passages, and hearing water dripping everywhere. Here the dragon Justus guards his underground hidden realm with impressive stalactite formations, crystal-clear lakes, soft clay formations, and bizarre sinter curtains.
Also, the last windmill of the Vogtland is to be found in Syrau, high above on the Dragon Castle. As a technical museum, its interior provides information about the miller's hard work and the functioning of a mill. The grinding mechanism is a masterpiece of the construction art of the time with immense dimensions. The wings of the mill could always be turned into the wind by a rotatable construction because it is a tower Dutch mill.

Directions
The path leads us from the station forecourt up stairs to the Friedensstraße in Jocketa and on to the Elstertal Bridge. On the impressive brick bridge, the narrow Elster valley at this point is crossed, not without extensively letting the view wander in all directions. In the valley floor, the hike continues to the Devil's Pulpit. Here the path turns right into the idyllic Nymph Valley. Along the stream, it goes to the Pfaffenmühle and past it into the Plauen city forest. This is crossed up to the tram line 5 stop in the Haselbrunn district.
Detour: Now a comfortable tram ride to the old town of Plauen with its sights and museums is offered.
After the city stroll, one takes the same line back to the well-known stop and continues along the Holz mill towards Zwoschwitz.
For those who do not want to visit the city center of Plauen, there is a wonderful extension through Jößnitz to Syrau and Zwoschwitz.
Detour: For this, leave the previously described route at the Pfaffenmühle and continue hiking to Jößnitz, then to Syrau and further to Zwoschwitz.

If you have become interested in the hike, then also visit Stage 1 or simply continue hiking on Stage 3 to Oelsnitz and visit Voigtsberg Castle.
A rewarding extension leads to the Vogtland Mill Quarter, to the mysterious Dragon's Cave Syrau, Saxony's only natural stalactite cave, and to the last tower Dutch windmill of the Vogtland.

Points of interest: Elstertal Bridge (the second largest brick bridge in the world), Dreiseithof Lochbauernhof from 1648, Old Town of Plauen (St. John's Church, Old Town Hall, Malzhaus, Thread Factory, Nonnenturm, Old Elster Bridge, Vogtland Museum, Galerie e.o.plauen - Erich Ohser Art Museum, Historical tram rides), Syrau (Tower Dutch windmill on the Dragon Castle, Dragon's Cave).
Tip: The Dragon's Cave in Syrau is just as much a must-see as the old town of Plauen! With some organizational skill, both can be managed.
