Highlight route Meissen's Old Town

The route starts at Rossmarkt. From there, head northwest onto Fleischergasse, at the beginning of which there is a representative Baroque building from the 16th century to discover. From Fleischergasse, turn left onto Göhrnische Gasse and follow it until Jüdenbergstraße branches off to the right. From here, you reach Rosengasse, at the end of which stands the Frauenkirche, known among other things for its carillon made of Meissen porcelain. From there, continue left onto the street "An der Frauenkirche," passing the Tuchmachertor and Bahrmannsche Brauhaus and over the Superintendent steps. Here, turn right onto Freiheit street. The path passes a letter stone in which all the letters of the alphabet can be read. Follow Freiheit to St.-Afra Church. There, turn right and cross the castle bridge to Meissen Cathedral and Albrechtsberg. For those who need a break after the climb or simply want to enjoy the view over the rooftops of the city, there are several opportunities to rest on the castle hill. Afterwards, return over the castle bridge and steps down to Hohlweg. After a few steps, this is crossed by Schlossberg street, which you turn left onto. Over Schlossberg, at the beginning of which there is a half-timbered house from 1575, continue to Meissen theater. Continue on Leipziger Straße until Lorenzgasse branches off on the right, leading to Baderberg. From there, follow Burgstraße to the left on to the picturesque market square of Meissen. Here, take some time to admire the individual sights. Worth seeing are not only the Frauenkirche on the north side of the market square and the late Gothic town hall, but also the historic townhouses such as the Renaissance buildings with house numbers 4 and 5 and the market pharmacy from 1561. Then continue the route on Elbstraße, where you reach Heinrichsplatz. You pass, among other things, a Baroque residential and commercial building from 1662 as well as the "Zollhof," a wealthy townhouse

from the early 17th century. In front of the ice café Venezia, turn sharply right onto the narrow Löwengäßchen, which ends at Marktgasse. Turn left there. Then the route goes around Kleinmarkt, past the city library to Gerbergasse. Following Gerbergasse, you return to Rossmarkt.
